Cannabis, Mental Health and Brain Disorders
This course, Cannabis, Mental Health, and Brain Disorders, is designed to enable you to critically understand the health impacts of cannabis (i.e., marijuana) in the context of several mental and neurocognitive disorders. You will be able to identify key features of several anxiety disorders (e.g., panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder), major depression, schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. You will understand the etiology and risk factors for these disorders, learn about traditional treatments, and understand the impact of various cannabinoids, such as THC and CBD, on these disorders. Gaining this knowledge will be useful for informing public policy, public health, and personal decisions regarding the use of cannabis products.
