Reducing Gun Violence in America: Evidence for Change is a course designed to provide students with the best science and opinions from the nation’s leading researchers and the skills to understand which interventions are most effective in providing a path to reducing gun violence in our homes, schools, and communities. In this course, you will learn to: 1. Assess the scope of gun violence and the importance of addressing the issue in a variety of contexts. 2. Describe the role of law and policy in addressing gun violence at the federal, state, and local levels. 3. 4. Describe government standards for civilian carry and use of guns and how these standards affect crime and violence. 5. Describe how firearms design is regulated, effective and fair enforcement of firearms laws, and strategies for reducing police-involved shootings. 6. Identify and explain evidence-based programs to reduce gun violence and understand public opinion about gun policy. As a student in this course, you should understand that you are part of an international learning community.
