About Cannabis, Chronic Pain and Related Disorders course
This course, Cannabis, Chronic Pain, and Related Disorders, is designed to help you think critically about the impact of cannabis (i.e., marijuana) on health in the context of chronic pain, opioid use disorder, obesity, sleep dysfunction, and cancer. We will learn about the epidemiology and etiology of these conditions, the harms/benefits of existing treatments, and how to evaluate the literature on the use of marijuana in these conditions. We will discuss specific aspects of cannabis use in these conditions, such as dose, timing of administration, side effects, and drug interactions. Finally, we will discuss how cannabis is used in the context of palliative care. Gaining this knowledge will be useful in informing public policy, public health, and personal decisions regarding the use of cannabis products.
