AI in Healthcare Capstone

In this project, you will take a field trip learning all the concepts we have covered in the various classes so far. We framed this experience around a patient who developed some respiratory symptoms and, given concerns about COVID19, sought care from a primary care physician. We will follow the patient journey through the data that is generated at each encounter, leading us to a unique de-identified dataset created specifically for this specialty. The dataset covers EHR as well as imaging data. Using this data set, we will build models to enable risk stratification decisions for our patient. We'll look at how the various decisions you make—such as constructing functions, using data types, setting up the model's evaluation, and handling the patient's timeline—affect the care that the model will recommend. In this study, we will also discuss the regulatory and ethical issues that arise when trying to use artificial intelligence to help us make better patient care decisions. This course will provide hands-on experience as a medical data miner.
