About Wearable technologies and sports analytics course
Sports analytics today includes vast amounts of data collected from athletes and teams that quantify both training and competitive efforts. Wearable technology devices are used by athletes on a daily basis and provide extensive opportunities to understand athletes’ workloads and recovery throughout the season. The collection of such large data sets has led to new hypotheses and strategies for injury prevention as well as detailed feedback for athletes to optimize training and recovery. This course provides an introduction to wearable technology devices and their use in training and competition as part of the broader field of sports science. It includes an introduction to the physiological principles that relate to training and athletic performance and how wearable devices can be used to characterize both training and athletic performance. The course includes access to some large data sets from sports teams and uses python programming to explore concepts related to training, recovery and performance.
