About Industrial IoT Market and Security course
WC Boulder
Developing the industrial infrastructure of the future is a critical task. This course provides a practical look at the consumer IoT to highlight the broader space for potential and growth in embedded systems applications. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is also known as Industry 4.0. As Cisco's CEO put it: “The IoT is a $19 trillion market. The IIoT is a critical subset that includes the digital oilfield, advanced manufacturing, grid automation, and smart cities.” This is Part 1 of the specialization. The intent is to closely examine the application areas and technologies and explore opportunities to work in the IIoT field. The structure of the course is intentionally broad but shallow. We will cover many topics, but we will not go into extreme depth on any one topic area. There is one exception: we will look at the “Internet of Things.” In this course, students will learn: * Industry 4.0 * Key application areas (e.g., manufacturing and IIoT) Wire communication protocols * Computer security information: Encryption techniques to ensure data integrity and authentication, and In the past,
