About Specialization Entrepreneurship: Developing Your Business course
Growing a business requires a dynamic set of skills ranging from leadership, people management, strategy, planning, finance, accounting, ethics, accountability and profitability.
Developed at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and led by leading Darden faculty, this specialization addresses the challenges faced by privately held businesses attempting to grow substantially. It begins with the common human resource challenges and issues faced by private businesses. You’ll then learn essential financial accounting skills for entrepreneurs, such as preparing and interpreting cash flow, balance sheet, and income statements to draw conclusions about financial health.
This specialization also introduces an exciting new approach to developing values-based leadership in the workplace, in business education, and in life. The action-oriented introduction to Giving Voice to Values (GVV) is not about convincing people to be more ethical, but about the fact that most of us already want to act in accordance with our values, and we feel we have a reasonable chance of doing so effectively. The book then looks at the emergence of a new business story, contextualizing it within society. Finally, the book teaches you how to write innovative business plans by making them focus, specific, and highlighting the connections between key business drivers.
