About Transforming communities course
This course focuses on communities and organisations in transition and using your existing skills and new knowledge to lead change. In this course we will discuss the basics of sustainability and resilience. We will then look at the core principles of working as a change leader. This course will provide additional opportunities to develop your skills. We will cover asset mapping and needs assessment, two important skills that you will need to use when working with clients to understand community and organisational needs, ensure broad engagement and use a systems approach to enable the community to identify its own needs and identify its own assets. This course will be divided into three modules. The Sustainability & Resilience module will introduce the core principles of sustainability and resilience so that you know the difference between the two and the potential ways in which they can be implemented in your workplace and practice. In Needs Assessment & Asset Mapping I will cover two important techniques for bringing community and organisational needs to the forefront and engaging stakeholders so that they have a voice and are involved in the process. Systems Thinking for Change will teach you how to use systems thinking principles as a change agent, and will provide advice and motivation for making change happen. Whether you work for a Fortune 500 company, a small nonprofit, or a community organizer, it’s time to step up and put your newfound knowledge into practice. The journey won’t always be easy and it’s often a long one. But real change requires radical change and genuine, authentic engagement with the people who will see and feel that change every day.
