About Specialization Biology is everywhere course
Where do you encounter biology today? Take a journey through the science of life through the lens of our everyday lives. This specialization is designed to bridge the gap between traditional biology classes and the practical biology knowledge needed in the real world. Each module explores a different biological concept linked to some real-world problem or experience to demonstrate why life science matters to your everyday experiences. Content includes topics typically covered in introductory biology classes, such as ecology and genetics, as well as unique interdisciplinary topics, such as the connection between art and biology.
Students may want to read the book Biology Everywhere: How Life Science Impacts Everyday Life by Dr. Melanie Peffer while taking the course.
Applied learning project
Students will complete assignments that will enable them to apply Biology Everywhere principles to their daily lives. For educators interested in teaching using Biology Everywhere pedagogy, an optional honors course is available that focuses on applying Biology Everywhere principles to your own classroom. Completing the Honors program will earn you graduate credit at the University of Colorado Boulder.
