Specialization Optical engineering

Optical instruments are the way we see the world, from corrective glasses to medical endoscopes, from mobile phone cameras to orbital telescopes. This course will teach you how to design such optical systems using simple graphical techniques, and then transform these pencil and paper designs to incorporate real optical components, including lenses, diffraction gratings, and prisms. You will learn how to input these designs into the industry standard design tool, OpticStudio from Zemax, for analysis and performance improvement using powerful automated optimization techniques. Applied learning project In each course in this specialization, you will design increasingly complex optical systems similar to those you might encounter in the real world. To do this, you will use both basic mathematical tools and Zemax's OpticStudio software application for final design.
